Do it right

Gas work is no place to cut corners

A gas line that is undersized, poorly routed, or never properly tested is a problem you do not want in your walls. We treat every gas job the same way: calculate the load for the whole system, run the right material for the application, pressure-test the line before it goes into service, and get it inspected. That is how it should be done, and it is how we do it on every job.

Sized for everything on the system

Whether you are adding a single gas range or feeding a furnace, a tankless water heater, a fireplace, and a generator off the same supply, the math has to account for all of it running at once. We run that load calculation, confirm the meter and existing supply can handle it, and upsize where they cannot. Then we find the cleanest route, make clean connections, and leave the system labeled and inspectable.

New construction or an addition to an existing home, residential or light commercial, we handle the gas side as part of the job.

What it costs

We do not give a real number until we have seen the job, because a number pulled out of thin air helps nobody. After we look at what you actually have, you get a written, fixed price up front, so there are no surprises at the end. No hourly meter running, no change-order games.

What moves the price

  • Number of appliances and the total BTU load on the system
  • Line length and how clean the routing is
  • Whether the meter or existing supply needs upsizing
  • Permit and pressure-test requirements for the jurisdiction

Gas piping, answered

The questions we get most often on gas line work across Puyallup and the South Sound.

Do I need a permit for a new gas line?+

In almost every case, yes, and you want one. A permitted gas line gets pressure-tested and inspected, which is what protects your home and keeps your insurance valid. Permitting requirements vary a little by jurisdiction across Pierce, King, and the surrounding counties, and we handle that as part of the job.

What can you run a gas line for?+

Ranges and cooktops, furnaces, tankless and tank water heaters, gas fireplaces, dryers, standby generators, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens. If it burns gas, we can size and run the line for it, including the tie-in to your meter or propane supply.

Why is sizing the line such a big deal?+

Every appliance has a BTU demand, and the pipe has to be large enough to deliver that to all appliances at once. Undersize the line and appliances starve, especially high-demand units like tankless water heaters and ranges, and you get poor performance or short-cycling. We run a gas load calculation for the whole system, not just the one appliance you are adding.

Can you add a gas line to an existing house?+

Usually, yes. We find the cleanest route from the meter or an existing line to the new location, confirm the system can carry the added load or upsize as needed, and keep the work tidy and inspectable. Older homes sometimes need the supply revisited, which we check before quoting.

How do you make sure it is safe?+

Every line we run is pressure-tested to confirm there are no leaks before it is put into service, and it is inspected per the local jurisdiction. We use the correct materials and fittings for the application and label and route things so the next person who works on your home can understand the system. Gas is not the place to cut corners, and we do not.
